My first days living in Brighton

Hello 🙂

A few things to introduce myself: My name is Noëmi, I’m 18 years old and I am currently living in Hove near Brighton. I am already living for one week here in Brighton and I will stay another four weeks doing this internship here at Professionals UK. In Switzerland I am a student and I live next to the Lake Constance and the border to Austria.

I have decided to do a language stay because I want to improve my English talking skills. I’ve never been to the UK before so I thought this would be a great opportunity to visit Brighton. Last week I went to St Giles College, an English language school in Brighton, to get to know some new people and to try to settle down a little bit. There were people from all over the world in my class and it was interesting to hear how life is in other countries. I also met some people from my school in Switzerland and I was glad to see them because I was scared of being here on my own. Together we explored Brighton and were able to collect first impressions of the exciting life in the UK.

My first week here was great and I am looking forward to another great four weeks. I love the Brighton Pier and walking by the sea even though it’s a little windy sometimes. There is just one thing that I’m struggling with: the buses. I’m still getting used to the bus system here, because everything is bigger than in my hometown in Switzerland and there are so many different bus routes. I already got lost a few times when I had to take a bus, but thanks to the helpful people here I have always found the right bus.

Today is my first day here in the office from Professionals UK and I was a bit nervous because I’ve never done an internship like this. But I felt welcome and I am sure I’m having a great time here. The different tasks I will deal with are social media strategy, newsletter, blog and content on the website. I’m excited and I hope I’m doing well.
